Linux iTunes Replacement

Just a quick note: Check out Banshee!

It isn’t quite iTunes, but it works great and isn’t as cumbersome as Amarok, which I used to recommend. Amarok has a nasty habit of switching from my external USB speakers to the crappy internal ones on my laptop, which was why I started searching for a replacement.

Banshee plays even the DRM-ed iTunes songs from my XP/Vista partition- no problem.  I really like it because it is better than iTunes in a lot of ways. It isn’t as cluttered, is considerably faster and less resource-intensive, and it actually gives GOOD recommendations for other artists (which I have never gotten from ITMS).

You can install it easily in Ubuntu using Add/Remove Software or Synaptic. Or, check out their Web site for other install options (and more information):
