Taking a Whack Against Comcast – washingtonpost.com

This woman is a hero to a lot of people.

Not too long ago- I decided I needed more than what the local “over-the-air” channels were providing. While traveling on business- the biggest thing I enjoyed was the cable/satellite TV in the hotels. I miss Discovery, History, SciFi, and Comedy Central. So- I looked at Dish, DirecTV, and Comcast. I was looking for packages with my favorite channels, with preference toward HD content. I was also looking for what I considered to be a reasonable setup and monthly cost. Comcast quickly dropped to the bottom of my list. Very poorly priced channel packages with limited HD content, combined with their legendary crappy customer service- absolutely not. Their “promotional” prices are barely on-par with similar package deals from the satellite companies, and all almost DOUBLE after a year. No way!

I ended up going with Dish- they offered more HD content and all the channels I want in their lowest tier of service. They also gave me a “free” two-channel HD DVR and six months of free HD for an 18-month commitment.
