This is a good article, and I agree with pretty much all of it. As several have already pointed out in the comments (and article itself)- a lot of this stuff isn’t necessarily limited on Linux. When things go wrong with Windows- it is often necessary to use the command line or do a lot of research to fix the problem. Actually- I’ve found it a lot easier to fix problems in Linux than Windows, since there are a lot more resources out there for Linux help.

I feel some of the lack of hardware support, and support of some major software distributors (Adobe being the biggest that is often mentioned) will diminish with time. Frankly I still don’t understand why companies who provide Apple OSX support don’t port to Linux, since the core OSs are VERY similar.
